Robinson Crusoe

It’s been a couple months since I read Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe, so I apologize if this review is short and vague. In fact, I read two books: The Life and Strange Surprising Adventures of Robinson Crusoe of York, Mariner, and its sequel, The Farther Adventures of Robinson Crusoe. According to the introduction to the Everyman edition that I read, the first book is the eponymous classic of Crusoe’s shipwreck and years-long survival and thriving on a tropical island, the book that movies and abridged books are formed from. The sequel is a follow-up to Crusoe’s life; it’s not as well-known as the first one, and hence isn’t as widely read.

Nicholas Nickleby

It took all of two weeks to finish Nicholas Nickleby, but I was very reluctant to return it to the library, preferring to leaf through and reread the most enjoyable parts. If I cling to a book like that, it means it’s become a favourite and definitely will be reread at some point.
